The Rockland is fortunate to have a wonderful staff of teachers who were carefully selected for their rapport with children, their teaching ability, and their warm and nurturing personalities (which is so important in working with this tender age group).
We currently have a staff of 14 teachers, most of whom hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, and all are certified by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. Our teachers have Advanced Certificates from the Northeast Montessori Institute.
Our director and owner, Carol Wishoski, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Northeastern University, has a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Gordon College, an Early Childhood Teaching Credential from the American Montessori Society, is a Graduate of the Northeast Montessori Institute (a two year program) and Holds a Director I and II Certification from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. As well as directing and teaching at Rockland Montessori School for 16 years, Mrs Wishoski also has experience in elementary school kindergartens, fourth grades, sixth grades and has been a YMCA camp counselor. In terms of community involvement, Mrs Wishoski is or has been involved in the Malden Early Childhood Community Partnership Council, Healthy Malden, Malden Hospital Junior Aid Association (Board member), Malden Zonta Club, Malden Industrial Aid Association (Board member), Malden Chamber of Commerce, Co-chairman of the Proposition 2 & 1/2 Over-ride Committee, Parent-Teacher Organization President for many years and was named one of Malden's Outstanding Women of Our Community by the YMCA's Tribute to Women.
In addition to our professional credentials, Rockland Montessori School's staff has, collectively, 28 of our own children, ranging from one year old to 38 years old, which lends our staff a great degree of "Mother's Instinct", that ability that just cannot be learned from books, and that again, is so very important in dealing with this age group.
